Hi everyone

got my appointment today with oncologist to see what the plan is going forward - had two post op flot now - absolutely knocked me for six both times with side effects. Neuropathy in hands and feet still not subsided, sickness was unbearable, cold and hot shivers and complete exhaustion. Not sure my body can take anymore of it. Feels like I’m between a rock and a hard place in making the right decision. Far to many what if questions circling round my head.

advice please is so very much needed

  • Hi J

thank you so much for your reply. Yes, I completely agree with everything you say. We have done a countdown of each hurdle that has been thrown at us and it has definitely helped. Just focussed now on having last cycle and then see what the results of ct show after I’ve finished chemo.
so good to hear that your husband is making huge strides in his recovery - I hope I can do the same. I’ve come so far and although not out of the woods by a long shot yet our focus has definitely got to be to continue and look forward to doing all the things that make us happy.
lots of love and bestest wishes to you both

  • Hi Sarah ! How are you getting on with the side effects of cycle 3 ? I do hope your coping ok thinking of you Tricia xx

  • Hi Tricia

Thank you so much for your message. I’ve been ok, I was so sickly the first week, definitely not so tired though, which was definitely a bonus. I only had the 24 hour infusion bottle this time round as they are concerned about the neuropathy in my hands and feet, they were hoping with a break it would correct itself. Sadly not I’m afraid. It’s actually getting worse I think.
will discuss it with oncologist again on Monday and see what his plan is for final round on the 13th.
struggling to sleep at the moment, I think my mind is just so full of everything and the pain in both sides of my ribs is a worry to be fair but guess it’s just everything still readjusting to its new home. Some days I feel like I’m doing so well and then others that I have a new symptom to add to the list

    Onwards and upwards as always

    Sarah xx

  • Thank you for getting back to me ! Some positive and some negative but that’s how it goes on this roller coaster!! But you’re nearly there so keep going ! Do you think the rib pain is the chemo or the surgery??

  • I don’t know Tricia - it was definitely painful on the right hand side after surgery but the pain is now on both sides right at the top of my rib cage under my breasts. I’ve mentioned it every time at the hospital but they don’t seem to be concerned.
This roller coaster just keeps on giving doesn’t it - I do keep having to remind myself just how far I’ve come so far and in all reality I guess it is still early days in recovery

  • Yes I saw on here some ones consultant said your in for a shit year and he was right !! I had pain in my right hand rib cage and under my bust is numb !! And I’m not sure what they did to my right boob but it’s so tender ! After the op I had bruising from my shoulder to my knee ! I joked about this with the surgeon and he said it was a skill !!

The only pain I get at the moment is in the centre of my back when I have done too much !

yes we have come this far and we mustn’t forget that !! Have you lost your hair this time round with the chemo everyone keeps saying oh your hairs grown and I have to say yes but will probably loosHeart it with the next round of chemo ! Keep fighting its all we can do Heart️xxx

  • It absolutely is all we can do Tricia Heart️ like you everyone kept telling me how much my hair had grown back and it was definitely getting thicker again, sadly straight after post op flot session 1 it came out in chunks - I actually felt worse about loosing it this time than when it happened first time round for some reason.
when do you start your chemo?
    xx

  • Appointment with oncologist tomorrow Weary

  • Hi Sarah

Pleased to hear you’re ok .
My husband experienced pain in his bones during his chemo .He said his legs in particular took a battering .He now has osteoarthritis in both knees , hips and neck .He didn’t have this prior to treatment so we can only assume it’s a consequence of the chemo .

In the months prior to finishing treatment he had all sorts of pain and twinges in his rib area , he was told this was just his body repairing itself after major surgery .It did wear off after around a year .However he too has numbness down one side of his chest area .He was told it was unavoidable nerve damage during the surgery .

    There’s always a price to pay isn’t there !

Good luck with your final chemo cycle .Having seen first hand how difficult this treatment pathway is , to come this far is admirable.

One down , one to go ! You’ve got this !
