Hi, new to the site. My partner has just been diagnosed with OC. Initially, they said the hope would be to have chemo and then surgery. Subsequent to that, they sent him for a biopsy on a lymph node under his collar bone. At the oncology appointment this week, they told us that the lymph node is cancerous and now won't be offering surgery. It will be chemo, then immunotherapy if he is suitable. Obviously we are devastated. I just wanted to see if anyone else on here has had a similar diagnosis and been offered surgery. We are not sure whether to get a second opinion or go private to see if they can offer anything different. Can anyone offer any advice? Thank you in advance.
Hi Kayleigh. We are in the process of getting second opinions. Our route is pretty much the same as Willow73. I am currently sending the diagnosis letter to the Royal Marsden and Christies and also one of the professor's/surgeon in Southampton are going to take his case to the multi disciplinary team. The hospital in Edinburgh that I am dealing with say it will take up to 30 days for us to get copies of all my partners notes however other hospitals/consultants can request them directly. Hope this helps. Good luck x
Thank you for this. As I said to willow73 think this is something myself and mom really need to do.
I'm not satisfied with the information we have had really throughout our journeys and our half way mark no scan results were back for us to discuss and no real information given to show his progress or even what happens when chemo finishes. X
Hi,
I was diagnosed with a tumour in my oesophageas, I had cancer in my liver, lung, lymph nodes in my neck and small cancer bits in my tummy. After 4 lots of chemo most of the cancer had gone. After 8 sessions of chemo 2 separate ct scans show no sign of cancer. I still take chemo tablets though. The doctor said that my reaction to chemo was remarkable. So there is always hope. Don’t believe all that your told by the doctor I was given I year and I am well past that.
