Hello

I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.

The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.

The change for me is  from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry Heart eyes. I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about?  My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.Grinning

I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!Fingers crossed

What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful Sunny

  • Morning Jennie

Good to hear from you and that you're doing well.

Well done on sorting your house I've been doing the same whilst Andy has supervised Laughing  bless him Pray

Andy has struggled through the first 2 sessions of chemo and on to round 3 today he's had a good weekend so makes the most of his good days.

Good to hear you have a plan to return to work , we're thinking it'll be the new year before Andy returns as he's a chef and will need a few months after chemo to build himself up again.  But is something to aim for.

Have a good day Jennie and take care

    Best wishes

    Vonn +Andy

    Xx

  • Morning Alistair

I hope today is kinder to you . 3 down well done xx Andy is on round 3 today if his bloods are OK when he gets to the hospital as his nutrafils were low yesterday so he could be knocked back a week

Andy has had a good weekend   so has enjoyed some normality,  its tough on you all , we were very sad to hear Dean's news and hoping to hear some positive news from him today.

    Stay strong Alistair

    Love and best wishes

    Vonn +Andy

  • Morning Alasdair

I hope you have managed to get some sleep and the diarrhoea has stopped, have they given you anything to help?
You have completed 3 so well done.

Its not so much cleaning as in sorting, keeping or getting rid off. My enjoyable pastimes are endless. Yes walks in the woods and sunsets on the beach, the nearest one being a 5 min drive away. What about you?

Hope you day is restful Alasdair

    Best wishes

  • Morning Vonn

Hope Andy’s treatment goes ahead today, round 3, well done Andy. Alasdair & Andy are tolerating the post op treatment so well, it’s nearly done.
How is Andy’s eating going when he feels ok to eat?

  • Morning Vonn and Andy

The side effects started very quickly after yesterday’s chemotherapy appointment roughly two hours after returning home, the nausea was first followed by bad stomach cramp and then the diarrhoea that all continued until about 1.00 this morning when I finally managed to get some sleep. I’m feeling better this morning and hopefully will continue to do so.

How is Andy coping with the Chemotherapy? Not to many nasty side effects I hope

Have you managed to get out and enjoy this nice weather that we’ve been having recently? My wife and I managed to get away for 3 days prior to round 3 it was a great time as I almost forgot about the last 4 months of pain and suffering but at least we’re still living and I’m starting to adjust to this new body of mine. How does Andy cope with eating is there anything he can’t tolerate? I find salty food has adverse affects on me.

I hope you and Andy continue to fair well and good luck with the chemotherapy today

Best wishes as always and stay strong

    Alasdair

  • Morning Dean,

I hope the meeting goes well with your Oncologist, glad that you will be seeing your previous Dr who knows your journey better.  he will be able to give you a better understanding of the treatment ahead for you. Fingers crossed it is not as viscous as FLOT can be.
How are you doing in yourself? Are you still feeling tired or has the B12 helped with that?

My eldest daughter is 40 this week, so wants to go shopping in Southampton (I hate shopping) JoyJoy, I’m hopeful with the nice weather everyone will be at the beach Sunglasses.  I will make fun though, there’s build a bear, pose like a manakin and let’s try on some hats!

Do you like reading? I have just started to read a book called RADICAL REMISSION, surviving cancer against all odds. By, Kelly A. Turner, Ph.D. It was recommended by someone else on this sight.

    Thoughts with you today Dean

    take care x

  • Hi Vonn and Andy

    Just a quick update

After my first chemotherapy session prior to the operation my neutrafils were recorded as low so the second chemotherapy session was delayed by a week following the second treatment I was prescribed G-CSF Injections that you take for 3days after you had the pump removed These stimulate the neutrofil and white blood cell growth and thus help with your immune system

Maybe you could add k about this

    Hope all goes well today

  • Hi jennie

    Thank you x

Andy eats well , he's still learning he says !! He thinks he can still eat morecthan his stomach will allow , he's still loosing weight so I'm trying to encourage foods that will stop the weight loss .

    Have a good day

    Take care

  • Hi Jennie,

Sounds like you’re doing pretty well. I have an appointment with my surgeon on 27th to discuss things. Throat is a bit like the full feeling I used to get during chemo when my stomach didn’t always seem to be emptying properly into my bowel. I’m sure it’s probably nothing sinister but I guess we all just inevitably have a heightened awareness of anything that just feels “not right”. Hardly surprising after what we’ve been through. I still have a tightness in my chest and, every couple of hours, I just need to stand and take a few deep breaths to expand my chest. Do you still get this? I haven’t tried swimming yet but have booked a few nights in a spa hotel in October and then we’re going to Tenerife in November so those will be my opportunities to see how it goes. I guess I’m still a little self conscious about the large scar on my side. Keep well. CB
