Hi All ..
We attended Salford Royal Hospital today for my husband’s 2nd post treatment monitoring appointment ..He's ten months post surgery and seven months post adjuvant chemo ….He mentioned during the conversation with his surgeon that for the past three weeks he’s experienced intermittent indigestion and burning in his chest going through to his back (..He has taken Lansoprazole twice daily since his surgery and up to three weeks ago he had no issues at all ) Consequently his surgeon is arranging an endoscopy to have a look at what’s going on ….He has been on a positive pathway up to now and we were told it would be unlikely that the malignancy would return ..but as we all know there are no certainties with this unpredictable disease so although we have remained positive throughout the experience we have kept an open mind .
It could be something and nothing but obviously concerning enough for his surgeon to arrange the endoscopy for asap!
I’ve no questions to ask as we don’t know what we’re dealing with yet but I just wanted to emphasise that any new symptom no matter how small is worth mentioning at the follow up appointments.
So I’m back to keeping everything crossed (AGAIN ! ) on this rollercoaster of a journey
regards J
Hi JPM
Just wanted to reach out and send positive thoughts your way. Truly hope it's nothing serious. So important to mention anything new and it's so good that your husbands doctor is getting an endoscopy arranged fast.
I know my dad's doc said that that they have to rely on the patient to determine if anything has changed or feels different so they can then arrange scans. I agree it's so crucial to speak up about anything that you might think is minor, because you just never know.
Sending strength and positivity to both of you. Take care.
HI my partner also gets these symptoms, he finished all treatment Sept 22, he had another endoscopy yesterday (8th I think) as he now has to get dilations a lot, he has an inflamed oesophagus due to reflux. Try not to worry too much hopefully its just something similar, after all this time my partner still throws up on a daily basis and lots of mucus at night time.
Hi ..Thanks for your reply .His surgeon did mention ulceration and inflammation but obviously they can’t say for sure until they’ve had a look ..Sorry to hear your husband is still dealing with issues ..My husband has had a pretty uncomplicated recovery up to now …
regards J
Justseeing ur reply and my partners notes also say ulceration and inflammation, we have to wait 6 weeks to see the surgeon again and now my nerves are away because he only rings now we never go in anymore but notes state he has to go to clinic, so also a bit worryingI think we will always worry eh..good luck I hope it goes well as can bex
Hi ..He’s had his scope this morning ..Visual results show Oesophagitis / /reflux ..Non erosive gastritis in his stomach ..It also flagged up two mucosal breaks in his new oesophagus…. Probably a consequence of the Oesophagitis but they've taken four biopsy’s for testing and we should have the results within four weeks ..His surgeon will phone when she receives the results
Like you say it’s all a bit worrying but all we can do is all only hope for the best .
.Good luck to you and your partner too ..Let’s hope it’s just a blip in our journeys
All the Best to you both
regards J x
