Hi there,
I had my surgery on 26/09/23 for at least stage 3 gullet cancer (Ivor Lewis procedure) and was wondering how long the intense pain is likely to last? Atm, I’m finding it hard to move about, get into and out of bed and sleep and it’s playing havoc with my brain.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Darmanicus,
I didn't have Ivor Lewis, I had one single incision from my left shoulder blade down and around the left side of rib cage. Don't know what the procedure was called. I am a month post op and still using tramadol and paracetamol when needed, mostly bed time. To be honest not that painful, more tight, pulling and uncomfortable. Hope this helps in some way.
Best regards
Geo
Hi My partner had his surgery in May 22 the intense pain lasted a few months as they had to break his ribs he was n morpine and a few other tablets, maybe best ask for some more pain relief to help in the meantime, it does calm down and gets easier to move around but you need to give it time. good luck
Thanks Geo, night time is the most problematic for me also.
Thanks Sam. A few months sounds daunting considering I’ve been a bit of an emotional wreck so far.
Sorry to hear that, try to stay positive it gets a hell of a lot better, sometimes lyin down was worse each day maybe try take a few steps more but def speak to dr and get pain relief for it.
