After a bit of a journey the last couple of months my dad has today informed his consultant he doesn’t want to have the operation and instead wants to go down the chemo / radio combo for his treatment.
His cancer is in the junction between the oesophagus and stomach and is classed as stage 3 due to the size of tumour but after lots of tests there seems to be no spread (though there could Be a couple of close lymph nodes affected)
he has considered his choices and gone from strongly wanting the op to deciding it’s not for him (it was touch and go if they would do due to his general health - recent stroke and copd diagnosis)
At this point they are still talking about treatment to cure but I was just wondering has anyone ever had the chemo / radio route rather than surgery? He’s been told 12 week chemo the last 5 weeks of which will be combined with radio.
Hi Nogaboy
I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'm not able to answer your question but by responding to your post it will place your post back to the top of the list where it may be seen by more members. I have had good results from chemo and radio but have had surgery as well. All the best to your dad for his treatment.
A x
