hi all im almost 6 weeks since operation completed , im trying to get an idea what shape I should be in for the next 4 flot keep beating my self up not in good enough condition .
I go for walks then have to have a nap or just tired and end up sitting around . I want to be in the rite shape to make the next flot count .was 74 kg pre op now 68 kg .
Hi Mark,
I'm just finishing my last cycle of post operative FLOT. I was ambivalent like you as we're no longer naive to what it's like. I struggled in the first cycle of post operative chemo and I think it was because of my ambivalence. The next 2 cycles were 'better' because I got my head together. I've pretty much had the same side effects as the previous FLOT - tingly hands and feet, nausea, etc. Etc. The fatigue I think is worse.
They'll do blood tests to check if you're ok to do/ continue FLOT. At this stage you've been through so much and it is a bit daunting. One of things that I've found helps me is that I go frequently for massages at one of the local cancer charities. Find the thing that will help you and book it in.
5 weeks ago, it all felt like it was going to be forever. Now I'm one week away from the end of the 4th cycle. I'm still impatient but the end is in sight!
Hang in there! You're two thirds through treatment! Look how far you've come.
Take care
Suzy
Hi Mark, I must admit to being a bit envious of your position. I'm just wishing it was all over. I'm right at the beginning. I have my staging lap next Friday and if that's ok I can go onto chemo, op and chemo.
If you're not in good shape at 68kg good knows how I'll manage at 135kg.....lol.
Hi mark I went through my post opp flot chemo finishing about 6 weeks ago , I personally found it quite tough but like the pre opp chemo resting in between cycles is key , my problem I got a few infections so twice had to go on antibiotics, what got me through was staying positive and ticking the cycles off , and looking at the finish line a head Best wishes
Hi Mark ..You have come so far and it’s admirable….It’s certainly a long process ….My husband completed two out of the scheduled four post operative FLOT cycles and then it was halted as his body began to show signs of strain..It was basically telling him enough is enough ! However his oncologist told him those two sessions have gone a long way in reducing the risk of a reoccurrence…As Suzy said you’ll have blood tests in between cycles to ensure you can go ahead with the next cycle and you’ll be monitored to ensure your body is coping ok ..Good luck and all the best …You’re almost there !
Hi Mark
We’re wondering the same thing as my husband is 5 weeks post op, has gone from 78kg to 68kg and although he’s walking most days, he’s finding eating difficult mainly due to the nausea and that he doesn’t feel like eating. He’s worried about tackling chemo at such a low weight but we’re hoping his eating will improve over the next few weeks.
lots of luck and best wishes
