Hi,anyone got any meal ideas we are really struggling?
Hi
I assume you are struggling due to foods getting stuck. If so I was told nothing is off limits ice cream, soft crisps like wotsits, cake, soups, cheese and crackers, fruit, use sauces and gravy. It’s a bit trial error some use a blender, I found rice better than potato but others have said the opposite. I didn’t get on with most meat but a vegetable curry was good.
the dietitian will have ideas and I think Macmillan have some recipes for soft foods.
I hope that helps
Thank you, we think it is the mucus that is causing a lot of the problems. Whatever we try comes back up.
My husband has all sorts of special “drinks” on prescription from the dietitian at the hospital. He has to have 6 per day to get enough calories as he cannot tolerate food at all. Hope this helps
Thank you,I think this is the way my husband is going. Can I ask what special drink you have tried as we are on our second one with not a lot of it staying down.
Hi I still Ensure Compact 125mls, also had Fortijuice but prefer Ensure as it’s not so much to take. It was going down ok but hubby getting fed up now as says taste is awful!
Hi JacPop
Thank you for your reply, and advice, my friend is also getting depressed over having to eat the same foods all the time, bless her she couldn't resist trying to eat a Macdonalds chip when she was out with her grandchild as the chips are only little, but ended up having to excuse herself from her little one, and make herself sick as the chip was to difficult for her to swallow
