Does anyone know what the fitness test involves and what level of fitness they are looking for to pass the test?

  • I went on bike for about 15 mins, start slowish build up and get monitored. Its more about checking your heart rate etc. My cardio was bad but still got operation. I shouldn't worry too much. If you can and have time try working on fitness before operation it helps with recovery. Best of iuck.

Thank you, it's not for me. It's for my husband. We were just a bit worried as the surgeon recommended he should start running. He's never been a runner but can walk several miles at a reasonable pace so hopefully he should be fit enough.

  • That's good is that just get him to walk at good pace for a good 15 to 20 mins controlling his breathing. I was a 17 stone lorry driver not an athlete. My exercise consisted of climbing into wagon. I still was classed fit enough for operation. If you could borrow a exercise bike or buy cheap one that would help. The fast pace walking will be better than doing nothing though. Concentrate on getting heart and lungs going.

I don't think there is a fail score it's upto the surgoen  // consultant to assess the risks based on your performance.   I had mine 4 days ago, same as Dave 66 said, I stopped  when they said I had done enough.
