Hi

I’m just after other people’s experience of FLOT and diarrhoea. I am on my third round of FLOT and had very few issues with the first two thankfully however this round I developed diarrhoea 5 days in. Im on codeine and Imodium which has helped. I feel completely in myself. Did other people suffer with this and how long did it take to resolve?

thanks in advance

  • Hi. My husband also suffered with diarrhoea at this stage of the chemotherapy, which loperamide didn’t control at all. We reported it and they took him off the chemo totally for a few weeks to allow his body to recover. Please report it if you haven’t already, as excessive diarrhoea can be dangerous. We were also given powdered milk shakes to ensure adequate nutrition going forward.
After a few weeks off, he’s starting with a new round of chemotherapy next week but with a lower dose due to weight loss.
    Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks so much for the reply. Imodium did nothing for me either unfortunately so I was given codeine which has done the trick, so far anyway but it was pretty full on and seemed to come out of nowhere. Things seem to have returned to normal now so I’m hoping to have my 4th chemo next week as planned.

  • I’m glad to hear that the codeine worked for you. My husband is also having his 4th chemo on Monday and we’re hoping that this doesn’t happen again. It seems a trivial thing compared to the big picture but last time he found it quite debilitating and it really pulled him down.
Good luck for next week .

Wishing your husband all the best for Monday and keeping fingers crossed for a better time this round. I completely understand it pulling him down, i felt the same, it knocked my confidence a bit.
