Hi everyone,

I've been recently diagnosed with malignant glioma grade 4 and had surgery 2 weeks ago where most of the tumor was successfully removed, feeling very grateful but extremely nervous about up coming chemo and radio.

Has anyone got any advice and tips to get through the next weeks please?

  • Stay positive, I was diagnosed July 24 and I have just finished treatment, no side effects whatsoever, worked full time, travelled and kept up with sport. Radio is just a drag going every day especially if you not allowed to drive. Chemos nothing really, just tablets

    good luck. X

  • Chemotherapy tablets hopefully should be ok. Radiotherapy daily is relentless and I'd suggest getting support to get there and home. I hope it goes well for you. My husband was ok during this time. Rest if you need to and carry on with life as much as you can xx

  • Hi there,

I was diagnosed with a grade 4 GMB at the beginning of march this year. Had a total resection then a 4 week break and then started my 6/52 chemo tablets and Radiotherapy.

i managed to get through it but needed transport to get me there and back to the cancer centre.

I was very fatigued by the treatment and had to have a small snooze in the afternoon. I had good family support.

i am now in adjuvent chemotherapy which comprises of 5/23 for the next 6 months. My oncology doctor saw that I had no ill effects from the first round of chemotherapy and then upped my dose to 360 mg of TMZ, which I didn’t cope with at all! Didn’t eat for 5 days due to nausea.

when I go back to see her at the beginning of September, I shall report my crap time I’ve experienced on this dose.

my advice to you would be to make sure you are resting and drinking lots of water. Take small walks each day if you can because it actually helps with the fatigue.

    Good luck on your journey

  • Thanks! I've got 3 weeks left now and I'm starting to feel a little tired. Being anemic doesn't help I guess.

I try to go out everyday for a walk or on the treadmill, it definitely helps Thumbsup

Good luck to you too Slight smile
