Hi
I would love any information on the best diet for this type of cancer. My husband still has two very long weeks to wait until chemo and radiation start. I have been told to drop all vitamins and any anti oxidant foods to make the tumour more vulnerable to the treatment. Does anyone have any words of wisdom on this please? I am finding it very hard to find any information
Many thanks
Hi Kersten
I'd suggest speaking to your CNS or the oncologist first before making any dietary changes. I did the same thing while my husband was going through his 6 weeks of treatment and our CNS said a high protein diet, lots of lean meat, fish and chicken and also to keep his hydration levels up. Apparently someone with a GBM4 tumour needs more liquid as the brain is "thirsty".
This is a safe and supportive space so I;m sure someone else within the group will be along with their words of wisdom shortly.
My husband's sense of taste changed during the six weeks of treatment and for a while he went right off coffee and dairy products. He didn't like anything with a creamy sauce. He also went through a phase of only wanting crunchy food.
We were advised to keep alcohol level to a minimum...that one he's not been so good at, if I'm being honest.
Hope this helps.
love n hugs

Hi, I have a gbm4 and I was told the same, eat a healthy balanced diet.
My wife had looked into all sorts of diets but our doctor said basically nothing had been proven to help except the treatments on offer and therefore she recommended a normal balanced diet.
But ny doctor did tell me to take vitamin C and D.
I was told to cut out alcohol too whilst taking the chemo.
I’m about to finish my 6 weeks of radio and chemo and I have gone off most foods over the last few weeks, it seems to change weekly for me what I can stomach. I have also been much more thirsty than normal and now neating the end of this round I am extremely tired, having been ok for the first 5 weeks.
Wishing you and your husband all the best with it all.
