Involuntary hand movement

The syptoms that alerted us to my better half's glioblastoma were stroke like issues with her left hand and leg. Today during her second radiotherapy session she found her hand and fingers doing their own "ghostly" movements outside of her control. Is this normal? Have other patients experienced this?

  • Hello. I was diagnosed in July and had pins and needles in left hand, my only symptom. I have just had  rradiotherapy session 8 and have not experienced this. I do exersize my left hand all the time, with piano scales and the 12345 ok method. Maybe try that? Cannot do any harm. Take care.

  • Hi ST199

sorry to hear about this. In a way it might be a good thing if it happened during her radiotherapy as the staff can report this back to the team.

G did have issues controlling his right hand latterly but there weren't any involuntary movements that I recall more a loss of function.

This is a supportive community so I'm sure others will be along with their words of wisdom shortly.

Perhaps it is a one off as I believe the radiotherapy can alter the pressure in the brain which might have contributed here but I'm not a medical person. Sorry I can't offer more reassurance.

sending love and light and  hugs to you both
