Does anyone have any information/experience of successful treatment with PC or PCV for recurrent or progression of glioblastoma (or unsuccessful)
I have a feeling that this may be on the horizon after my husband's next scan in a couple of weeks time and I was hoping to get some insight into just how tough it is to get through each cycle and if it's effective in treating recurrence/progression.
Thanks x
Hi LC 50. I just dropped by and noticed you've not had a reply just yet. I myself have a different cancer so I'm sorry I can't offer any help in this instance.
I'm sure someone will be along soon to answer but in the meantime it might be helpful to Ask a nurse just click on the link I've created. You might have to wait a day or two for a reply.
Best wishes to you and your husband, Bx

Hi
yes my husband had a recurrence of gbm whilst on TMZ. He’d been diagnosed October 2017 just after his 55th birthday. The usual craniotomy followed, then radiotherapy and chemo for 6 weeks, then started TMZ. Recurrence started in June 2018, so they suggested PCV. It is a gruelling treatment. He managed the full 6 cycles over the following 10 months, having a few delays with low platelet count. Had clear scans since April 2019!!
can’t believe he’s still here.
so sorry you find yourselves on this journey. It’s devastating, but there is help out there and support.
if you have any other questions about the treatment just message me.
sending hugs
sheila xx
Sheila.
Hi Sheila,
Thank you for your reply. That's great news that your husband has had clear scans since 2019, its great to hear about positive outcomes, I very much hope this continues to be the case for you both.
May I ask if your husband has a methylated gbm? Also has he had any further treatment since the 6 cycle6 of PCV?
I’m sorry we were never told if it was methylated or not. Anthony wouldn’t ask any questions and did not want me to either. It’s descepribed on notes as an IDH-wildtype if that means anything to you?
he hasn’t had any other treatment since finishing PCV. He has had other health problems-as in aches and pains following steroid withdrawal and has had focal seizures which have resulted in an increase or addition to his anti seizure medication but that’s it really.
Sheila.
