Hi, has anyone taken or taking turmeric supplements? Husband on temozolomide 5 days on, 23 off, had 2 cycles out of 6. Would love to hear from anyone with any knowledge of taking turmeric or any other supplements.
Thank you xx
Hello LH!
First off, I'm sorry for what you and your husband are going through.
My husband was diagnosed almost three years ago. He was already a very sporty guy (snowboard, downhill biking, anything outdoorsy really!) and we are so very lucky to say he is still the healthiest man I know, despite having initially lost 13kg during treatment.
He went very much into naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, mediation (this was big for him!!), green juices, no sugar AT ALL etc in complement of modern medicine treatment, and although it is hard to say if that's what helped him be so healthy despite such a poor prognosis, the end result is so overwhelmingly positive we're not changing a thing.
So basically when is comes to turmeric, what you really want from it is its active component Curcumin. It is much better to find curcumin rather than turmeric because you'd only be taking the turmeric for its curcumin if you see what I mean. Curcumin is best absorbed when taken with black pepper. Some supplements already put some in so check the ingredients.
We are in Australia and this is what we used:

I'd suggest you look into Ribraxx as well.
Best of luck LH xx
