Hubby has GBM 4

Hi everyone,

I've decided to join after reading for the past few months. My husband, 54 was diagnosed with GBM 4 in Sept. He had a biopsy and due to position of tumour surgery not an option. He's had the 6 wks radiotherapy/chemotherapy and no issues. 1st cycle of TMZ at slightly reduced strength ok but this 2nd cycle at maximum strength really tired him out for over a wk after it finished. He's very fit, a cyclist, still on turbo trainer in garage and walks everyday. Short term memory biggest issue and slight side weakness xx

You might find it useful to also join our Family and friends group, to gain support for yourself and to add something to your profile so others know where you're coming from.

Fear of the unknown is the worst thing. Once we know what we're facing, we find the strength to deal with it.

Sorry that you find yourself in this situation but you have made a good decision to join the group, it has been a great help to me over the last 2 and a quarter years and particularly in the early days when its so good to hear other stories. My son is fit and managed to keep playing football through his treatment, exercising certainly helps maintain a positive attitude. This situation makes you focus on what is important and take every opportunity that you are able to.

Good to hear from you. How is your son keeping? We can't stress enough how much sport and fitness has got us to this stage. Thankfully hubby was a triathlete for 25 yrs and continues to cycle and run. The doctors said to us there's nothing you could have done to prevent this but being fit and healthy will help you now, especially being that bit older. You certainly do focus on things differently, and we all take the good days with the bad.
