Hello everyone,
I am not sure if you have seen my recent post explaining my dads new diagnosis of G4 GBM.
Obviously I am new to this disease but I just wanted to share some things I have learnt so far in terms of supplements and lifestyle.
From the research I have looked at a keto diet seems beneficial
Also read something about cows milk being bad so it could be useful to supplement with plant based products such as oat milk
In terms of siezures I have read a study about the benefits of something called methylene blue which you can buy from amazon at pharmaceutical grade. it comes in a powder which you can make into liquid and add it to any drink (teas, juice, water). It has been proven to reduce siezure activity and be good for the brain.
we have also got things like turmeric supplements, high dose vitamin D and boswellia.
We have switched water to higher PH bottles (alkaline ionised water) which doesnt contain fluoride (meant to feed cancer) and we have changed toothpaste to one without fluoride as well.
we have also started doing red light therapy on my dad again this lamp can be bought on amazon.
I know it seems difficult as most of us arnt trained medical proffesionals but these are little things we can do to see if there is any benefit or not <3
These things could be a stab in the dark but anything is worth a try
Hi Paige19
Thanks very much for taking the time to share your thoughts with the rest of the group.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and although I didn't have the same type of cancer as your dad I didn't want to pass by without acknowledging your post.
I'm sure you already know this, but just want to add it in case anyone else reads this who doesn't, but it's important that your dad speaks to his oncologist/consultant before taking any supplements as some can interact in a negative way with treatment he might be having. You might find this information from Macmillan on diet and food supplements helpful.
When you have some spare time, it would be great if you could put something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
