Gall bladder polyp

Hii had an ultra sound on Thursday for my liver and  a gall bladder polyp was noted. The nurse doing the ultra sound which was surveillance to check for liver cancer said there was nothing suspicious seen but said to ring my Gastros secretary if I had any further question's. So I did and it was her that told me about the polyp. My Consultant is on holiday at the moment. I have had a previous, now fully resolved,  history of fatty liver but also I have had kidney cancer 2023. Tumour removed and had a partial nephrectomy. Scan last Jan all clear, but an ascending aortic aneurysm picked up. That will be checked again in 18 months and next kidney CT Jan next year, so I have had and am having lots of CT scans etc, blood tests you name it I have had it. Also fed up of always having something nasty show up on every scan.
Why do you think the radiologist didn’t mention it if he said there was nothing new, cancerous or suspicious ? I checked my previous scan and there was no polyp noted, I am at my wits end now. I am a member of the kidney cancer, liver forum, and heart forum and am now typing on here. Can anyone tell me how serious this might be please, thank you

  • Hi

I'm sorry that you've got the worry of what this latest scan has shown and I know how horrible 'not knowing' is.

I'm not a member of this forum but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. • Hi Cilla just reading your post you have been going through some very tough times. I think how you feel is very understandable. I havnt been through half as much but recently had a scan for a back iGrimacingury and I’m just waiting for the news that I have come to expect is there is an issue of some kind. I had an ultrasound for a pain in my left side next to my stomach. Went away thinking oh well I’m Grimacingre there isn’t anything there. The lady doing the scan chatted away no mention of any problems. Went out and had fish and chips Grimacing that was the Sunday by Monday morning my GP was calling to say they had found something on my gallbladder. It was like an electric shock because my pain had subsided and it had been the opposite side to my gallbladder. All I knew of gallbladders were they often had stones as my gran had hers removed. The wording in the scan was pretty much that this was probably something quite nasty. It talked of a lesion with a blood supply. I went into panic googled gallbladders and decided it was 100% nasty. I was sent on a two week urgent mri list. I fell apart but came on this group where there are all be it a very small amount of people due to gallbladder cancer being very low statically. The mri showed I had inflammation and I was told it would be best removed the surgeon said it was a very small chance of being nasty but until it was removed he couldn’t say. There was talk of a large polyp which did frighten me. Once my gallbladder was removed I was given the all clear. I hope you do get some answers quickly and that all is well. I spoke to a macmillan nurse on the helpline and he said the majority of polyps are benign. Also the mri is the good standard and in my case it was but to be certain they removed my gallbladder. Hopefully you will be seen quickly and things will be moving in the right direction.
