Hi I had a pain in my stomach but seemed like trapped wind as I was very stressed at the time. Fast forward to an ultrasound which showed a 1.3 lesion poorly differentiated with what looks like an inherent blood supply. All bloods good and not showing anything on ultrasound for pancreas abdominal aorta liver (few benign cysts) kidneys.
sent for an mri urgent totally anxiety could not cope with having the contrast was so upset with myself over that but it was just too much. The radiologist said they got a lot of pictures. So since Grimacingst Friday I have been so poorly with stress and anxiety I have googled (I know Grimacing) I have pestered macmillan the doctor who did give me the ultrasound. Ended up in an and e with major panic attacks I also have atrial fibrillation. Sat here today waiting for the phone to ring absolutely terrified. I wasn’t going to post until I heard from the doctor but thought I wanted to be among people who have a similar experience x

  • Hi Irisgal I am seeing the consultant next Monday and think I will be having my gallbladder removed after a small lesion was found. I did have an MRI which I was told showed it to be benign but I do think they have to remove the gallbladder to be sure. How are you feeling physically now? I have read the liver resection is a big operation. When will you start treatment for the metastatic cancer?

  • Thank you, Sid31. They removed the gallbladder,  not expecting to find a 2.1 cm lesion. I had barely recovered when the oncologist ordered the liver resection and lymph node removal. The pathology report came back, and looks bad. There is tumor that has broken through.. I will meet with the oncologist Friday to set up the chemo schedule.

This all started on February 25th!

  • I’m sorry to hear what a difficult time you are having. It is so difficult to take in and cope with the treatment and the news. I have read some very positive things from people with gallbladder cancer which has spread. With all the surgery I would imagine you are very run down and it is so difficult to cope with treatments and the worry when you are physically and mentally drained. I suffered enormous anxiety I really could not stop myself. I think it is the shock with this cancer and others where you don’t know there is anything wrong and it’s only when there is something like the gallstones that this is found. It does sound they are moving very quickly and you have had the liver resection and very positive you will speak to the oncologist Friday. Try to take care of yourself physically and mentally I know that is difficult but I hope after Friday when you have the information about the chemo you will have the information on how this can be treated.

  • Hi Irisgal,

If the anxiety is excessive, speak to a dr to get anri-anxiety medication like i did. I got Xanax to take as needed. Collette is on this thread who had a liver resection and it was metastatic as well.

  • Hi Riccardo just back from my consultation. A really lovely surgeon and has advised to have my gallbladder removed as opposed to monitoring. I’m not sure when but hopefully soon. Hope you are well and hear your biopsy results soon.

  • Good, get rid of it so no worries over scan results. They call it scanxiety on other posts here. My surgeon said they will call me if they find anything.

  • That sounds reassuring you havnt heard anything. Yes I am a bit worried about the surgery and how I will cope. I have a heart condition and that worries mr but I really do think it is much better for me to have the surgery.

  • Don't worry. They may give u prescription painkillers after the surgery as they did with me, but they will cause constipation. I managed with 2 500mg paracetamol pills every 6 hours for 3 days. I also took metamucil and a laxative pill on the 3rd night to help go to the loo for #2 the next morning.

  • Thank you Riccardo. Did you have day surgery? I am hoping mine will be and straight forward. All a bit daunting and looking at ways to cope with the anxiety again but going to try meditation and positive thoughts. I have seen on a few groups how being positive even when things are bad really helps so I will start with some meditation

  • Hi, I recently came across the free UCLA meditation app. Wanted to do this and didn’t know where to start so felt a research-based programme from a top university would be a sensible way to get going. My other recommendation is to buy yourself some gorgeous shower gel, hand wax and hand cream for little pleasure often x
