I had mouth ulcers appear and enflamed gums 4 days after having the the vaccine, it was very painfiul and made it very difficult to eat. I treated myself with mouth ulcer pastilles Benzoin Tincture, then it dawned on me, so  I asked a pharmacist, she looked it up on her computer and told me that it was a possibility as listed under rare side affect and to contact a GP. He said it was a possiblility as I had had treatment for cancer. He recommended to see a Dentst and use Difflam mouth wash or spray to numb my mouth. This has helped tremendously and I go back for a review in 2 weeks. Fortunately, they are subsiding after a week as I was very worried. I had successfully completed my cancer treatment for Folicular Lymphoma 9th months ago. Whilst on the treatment I took Aclivire 3 times a day to prevent this kind of thing.

My daughter has sent me a photo of her neighbour with similiar affects  which look worse than mine. He is 70, currently undergoing treatment for spine cancer. I have a review appointment with my Cancer consultant on 6th Aprilso I will be able to discuss this further.

  • I would suggest that you register with Yellow Card Vaccine Monitor (Google it) - the yellow card scheme is nationwide and is there to track side effects of medications. If you register, you can enter your other medications and log your side effect from the vaccine. This is important to do, as it's the way that side effects become known to health professionals.

I had the vaccine and 5 days later I had to goto hospital woke up couldn't breath l8st my voice I thought I was in remission but had ct and my slow growing low grade had gone into high grade fast growing I had been sick only since December I had rcvp in 2016 then rituximab for 2 years . I started RCHOP on Tuesday last week I'm devasted and a little frightened at how fast it developed has anyone else had this chemo this time has knocked me for 6 can't eat mouths sore it's only been 10 days but I feel like a trains hit me .Ant advice appreciated

  • Hi Mishy, I would suggest starting a new thread with your post and mention rchop in the title and you will get more responses. I had 8 cycles of rchop and it effects everyone differently. Rchop is the standard treatment for dlbc which I guess is what you are now dealing with, its very effective so lets see you get a good outcome like many others.

Have you been given difflam its a mouth treatment that should help, the other thing to do is ring and speak to your specialist nurse and they may prescribe something to help. Make sure you are drinking plenty have short walks when you can and eat often and little ie sloppy food, smoothies, things like that, you can also get supplement drinks, think they are called ensure on prescription too.

    hope this helps a little
