I’ve have a positive update. My haematologist has confirmed that my follicular lymphoma is localised at the top of my leg so the plan is to have radiotherapy with the hope of a cure
I also had a fertility preservation appointment this week. The doctor explained that if I decided to freeze eggs, the chance of them leading to a successful pregnancy in the future would be around 30%.
I’m really struggling with the decision. At the moment, we both genuinely don’t see us having children. Everyone around me keeps telling me I might change my mind because I’m still young but I feel like people aren’t really hearing me when I say that I don’t think we want children. Because of that, I’m leaning towards declining fertility preservation and just going ahead with the radiotherapy, even if that means accepting the risk that I may not be able to have children in the future.
Has anyone else been in a similar position? Whether you chose fertility preservation or decided not to, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience, how you made the decision and whether you have any advice. I know nobody can make the choice for me but it would really help to hear from people who have been through something similar.

Hi Zitrone_Dachs and your treatment plan sounds encouraging.
I have no first hand experience in anything related to fertility prevention but what I can say is that over the many years I have been volunteering on our various blood cancer but also with Lymphoma Action the UKs main Lymphoma charity…… is I have talked with many people who have went through Lymphoma treatments including Stem Cell Transplant and CAR-T and went on to have family post treatment and this was with them not having the opportunity or time to organise fertility prevention before treatment started.
