hi,
on my last consultation I asked was there any trace of Lymphoma after the stem cell transplant. A blood sample was taken on 20th Jan to test for c4d. The result is not available yet.
How long does it usually take to get a result?
What is the relationship between c4d and Lymphoma
Hi again Josh, my CD4 test results always took a good 3-4 weeks to come back depending on what lab they needed to be sent to for processing.
I was told that the CD4 test was used to measure how many CD4 cells I had in my system.
These cells are often called killer T-cells that move through the body to find and destroy bacteria and viruses.
So basically testing to see how much damage has been done to your immune system by all your treatments and post SCT this can often be greater, so does take longer to recover.
Have had many infections post SCT?
hi Mike, yes I got an unidentified Lung infection 7 weeks after the transplant. Ended up in intensive care for 6 weeks. Thankfully recovered. CD4 test result is 123, Doctor says 200 is the normal level. From google it appears diet is a big factor.
Hi Josh, even although I was discharged by my SCT team in June 2018 - 3 years post my second SCT I was in at my GP yesterday getting all my bloods done for my 5 year post SCT ‘Late effects Clinic’ well it’s a video conference- this is good as I don’t have to spend a day going up and down to Glasgow for 10min.
CD4 is part of these tests so it will be interesting to see this result but my CD4 goes all over the place - I would say that we follow what the NHS calls a balanced diet but it still bounces like a ball.
This is the first winter I have not had a week of NHS DB&B but a few weeks back I did use my emergency antibiotic as I knew I had a chest infection developing - it stopped it in its tracks.
It would be worth talking with your GP about this. I have a broad spectrum antibiotic on repeat as my GP trusts me to do what is right and check in with her if I start using them.
Keep well my friend.
