Hi folks. I’m posting for a friend who is on his third dose of RCVP

Chatting to him today he mentioned his not being able to sleep for five days then crashing down wiith exhaustion. Nobody told him it was due to the steroids. He feels happier now he knows why but I was wondering if anybody finds sleeping pills help or has any other coping mechanism.

Suggestions would be welcome

Thanks.

  • Hi  your friends experience is rather normal…… being on steroids can go from acting like Tigger to sleeping as an Olympic Gold Medalist….. and there is often no real middle ground.

Some people do find sleeping pills helpful and its worth a try.

I was already on some ‘as when’ sleeping meds due to the noise I have in my ears 24/7 due to hearing damage from one of the drugs I was on…… so sleeping during steroids was not a problem for me.

  • Thanks Mike. He seems in good spirits otherwise.

  • He may want to check out Lymphoma Action. Lymphoma Action is the main UK Lymphoma Specific Charity who have lots of good reliable information, videos..... basically all things Lymphoma....... pre, during and post treatment.

They run various Support Platforms I highly recommend these groups as this will widen his support base and there is nothing better than ‘talking’ with others who have walked or are walking the same journey.

They also have a great Buddy Service where he can be linked up with someone who has walked the same treatment journey.

The LA helpline is open every week day from 10 till 3 on 0808 808 5555. This is a safe place to talk things through and get support.

  • Thank you Mike. I’ll see what I can do with these links for him. He doesn’t have internet ( Heaven knows how he and his wife manage) I can visit with my computer in tow. You never know it might spur him into action.
