Hi Folks.

I'm 48 hours after my first R-Chop treatment.   So far I'm feeling ok-ish.  Sore joints, nausea and tiredness,  but I am also peeing a lot! Is this normal? I was at assessed unit for swelling today, so they tested for a uti and all clear, but I am going to the loo much more than I would usually.  Is this a side effect of treatment?

I'd appreciate your thoughts Blush

  • Hi  welcome to this corner.

Chemo dues play with your bodies metabolism so not unusual to have the challenges you are having and at times I was peeing lots.... but I was drinking a minimum of 2 litres a day as this is the best way to protect your kidneys and flush the toxins from your body.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for getting back to me!

I have been drinking a lot,  trying to drink 2-3 litres of water a day, plus the occasional juice or coffee. So that will have an affect,  just felt a bit more than usual today.  But have read that this is how the chemo metabolises and leaves the body? So maybe that, just a little bit frustrating getting up and down to the loo everytime while my hips and knees are feeling the strain! Hopefully it'll pass quickly.

  • Hi again Rach, I think you have answered your own question and yes it’s the way that you are cleaning out your body.

There is a positive side to this and you may not see it but regular exercise will help overcome some of the Fatigue.

  • The steroids cause the glucose level in the blood to go up, then the body tries to get rid of the glucose by peeing it out. So it's the steroids.
