I'm posting an update and just checking in with my old friend Highlander! Having smashed The Big C out the park at the end of 2018, I've enjoyed a hectic and healthy life.
I'm now officially a proper grumpy old b****d aged 69! BUT I almost didn't make it Why? Well I'll come to that. I might be old but I've maintained a healthy fitness regime and lifestyle since serving for 12 years in UK Commando and Special Forces over 40 years ago.
My civvy career was filming live sports, in particular boxing and I'm one of the most experienced boxing g cameramen in the world. I filmed over 5000 fights operating the main live handheld camera on some of the biggest fights on earth.
Anyway in a moment of madness I thought hey Why not fight myself! So in Nov last year I started training very very hard for a white collar boxing match in front of 2000 people in London on March 20th this year.
Sooo one week before the fight, it was my 69th birthday, I was going to bed after a shower and suddenly fell to my knees with a severe chest cramp. Clearly I'd been sparring to hard!! NOooo! I suffed a near FATAL heart attack!!!!
I was taken by ambulance with blues, and twos to intensive care at St Barts London...and had an emergency Angioplasty. My MAIN coronary artery was 99% blocked..all others were TOTALLY clear!!
Anyway, I kicked the grim reaper up the a**e yet again...And here I am over three months later fitter than a butchers dog and training extremely hard!
Stay fit, stay healthy and NEVER let a bit of a health issue like Stage 4 cancer or a widowmaker heart attack get you down!
Catch up with you all later...I posted some info to BUMBLEBEE...best he take note...or I'm gonna chin him
Hi mate, good to hear from you but sorry to hear about your heart attack……. You do know there is a slight difference between filming boxing and actually being in the ring as a contestant
But I am so pleased you come through it……. you are just keeping up with me as I had my heart attack back in April 22.
You take care my friend
I know there's a big difference...I couldn't control the camera with those big daft gloves on! Lol.great to hear from you again. Always a pleasure mate
