Hi, This is my first post. Recently I am diagnosed with DLBCL with double expressors (MYC plus BLC2) originating from adrenal glad. I am offered New York Sloan Kettering R-CHOP with Methotrexate IV. Recently I found clinical trial for the same group of cancers, clinical trial of R-CHOP with Venetoclax, with Methotrexate IT. It's exciting as in previous trial of small size, more double expressors became cancer free.
Any advice or opinion on standard treatment vs clinical trial? Venetoclax has positive vibe.
Thank you! R
Hi and welcome to the Macmillan Community and I take it that you are in the USA.
I had a different type of NHL and a rather different type of treatment journey but lets look for some of the group members to come along with their experiences as these treatments are used a lot, or variations of these.
You can use the main site search tool near the top to have a look at Venetoclax as it is used across various blood cancers and treatments.
You may want to put some info into your profile as it helps when folks are talking with you......and you can see our stories by hitting our names. Click to see how to add some details to your profile.
Always around to help out the best we can.
Hi, Sloan has some good haematologists have you met with your consultant there yet? as this would be a good question to ask and to discuss, to see what the trial criteria are and are you eligible, that's the first step. Then discuss how long decisions are taken re who is in and who is not, what might that and any delay in treatment mean against what the benefits may be. Also ask are the other options to put to your insurance company assuming they are paying and it as your in the US.
this brief post from Australia may help you with your discussions re treatment
If it were me then I would want to understand what the expressers were indicating and anything unique to me in the histology results and what's a good hard combination to treat it as some of the doctors who have presented their thoughts on treatment tend to infer hit it hard, as hard as you can.
hope this helps
