I have been given a date to commence my engraftment which is 30th of October I had no information given as to when or where the pre engraftment high dose chemotherapy will take place is it at the same hospital as engraftment or somewhere else it seems to be cutting things very fine as it's less than 2 weeks from now can anyone help? I suggest you get in contact with your Transplant team and ask them.
I had 2 Allograft Stem Cell Transplants and my brother was my donor….. The harvest of his Stem Cells was done in the same hospital that I eventually had my conditioning chemo to take down my immune system and get the Stem Cells put in and the wait for my new stem cells to engraft.
As far as I know it’s the same in an Autologous Stem Cell Transplant for the Stem Cell Harvest, the conditioning to take down your immune system and get the Stem Cells put in to be done in the same hospital.
Engraftment happens once your all new Immune system grows and your bone marrow is re-generated.
