my son has refused treatment for his lymphoma started in tonsils were removed last year
has spread to lymph nodes in neck and swollen too much very stiff ,has swollen arm
I am lost to what to do as he has refused treatment and believes he can cure himself
what can I do
Hi Choo,
Great to hear your son is having the treatment and has had his second round.
My dad has just had his second round and will also be having the 'Intrathecal' chemotherapy as a precaution too. I think if the cancer is near to the central nervous system, i.e. the spine then they do this to be safe.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Hilary
Yes this is normal for this presentation ((hugs))
This is a common part of the treatment & is, as you said, a precautionary measure. I had 4 doses of intrathecal methotrexate. Dr would get me in a seated position on the bed and I would lean over a small table or pillow. They numb the lumbar area with local anaesthetic & then use a needle to remove a small amount of spinal fluid & then replace it with the methotrexate....it sounds much worse than it actually is! I didn't find it painful at all, and it's a quick procedure. Afterwards they advise you to lie down for a few hours to prevent getting a headache. I was also advised to drink coke afterwards too, but I can't remember why that was! Hope you & your son are holding up ok x
Hi, maybe I can pitch in here. I just had my first methotrexate session over the last few days in hospital following my 3rd cycle of chemo and fortunately it all went without hitch. 2nd session also planned between my 5th and 6th cycles just like your son.
Ask me anything you think I may be able to help with ?

I know he needs to let this feeling go not easy to do ,said can feel lump which I think normal size gland ?
not seeing doctor till end of may cause of the coronavirus .
So good to hear this news considering the journey you all had to get to this point.
I think we all understand the ‘what if’s’ once treatment is complete and yes, he will feel things and his mind well tell him lies - but he now needs to trust his body and heal.
It may be good for him (and you) to look through this great paper as it helps identify the milestones in the post treatment journey.
Now is the time for him to safe more than ever.
((hugs)) from a distance.
Thats great news, pleased for you both, do get him to read the paper Mike has given a link to, it really does explain all the emotions you will both be feeling.
As for the future, tell him about our stories and I am over 10 years post treatment and life is good, it can be for him too
John
