CLL, Covid-19 and vaccinations

Hi and welcome to the Community. I am Mike Thehighlander and so help out in our blood cancer groups. I don’t gave CLL but was diagnosed with a rare type of NHL way back in 1999 so do understand this blood cancer lark rather well.

The word is it’s far to early to gauge the effectiveness of the vaccine across blood cancers as the research is ongoing.

We just have to maintain vigilance and look for more of the population to get their jabs and for us to get a booster going into winter.

I actually never expected to get good protection first time even with both jabs but have been able to maintain a good balanced lifestyle over the past year and a half.

l am over 5 years out from treatment (hit my name to see my story) and have a permanently reduced immune system but find I can navigate life in the Covid world ok.

- not to mention the physical journey(s) to Glasgow! I have a different diagnosis, CLL, and no symptoms so far apart from a slightly fat neck - but nothing like your "brick".

I like your town and we have a whole chunk of our family futher norht and west (Bonar Bridge, Ullapool, Achiltibuie) so we know your "neighbourhood" a little. Being in London has its advantages, hospital-wise, but we inevitably are a bit closer the the Covid-19 bullseye!.

Yes do post if you come across anything but it is rather early days. Yes we are out in the wilderness  but it is great place to stay..... with the West being even better
