I was told in December that I have cervical cancer. Had an MRI on 16th January and awai, ing further details on the tumour and treatment. Struggling with the wait as now I know I need more knowledge
Hi Eileen41 and welcome to our group.
It is a really difficult time being in this waiting period when we know we have cancer but don’t yet know what will happen next.
However, waiting really does become a big part of the whole process-waiting for scans, then results, then a treatment plan. It can seem endless. However, I think lots of us would say that things become a bit easier once we have a treatment plan abd can focus on that.
Once you know a bit more, you might want to fill in your profile details with your stage and plan as it’s helpful for others answering questions and lets us see where you are in the process. It can be a couple of weeks to get scan results and all results, including any other tests and biopsies, have to then go to an MDT meeting (Multi Disciplinary Team) which is made up of the professionals involved in the care of all patients-oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and nurses etc) and it depends when your team meets as to when you’ll get your final results and plan.
Try and keep busy while you wait and distract yourself as best you can, although I know it’s not easy for you, and please let us know how you’re getting on. You can ask any questions here and we’ll be happy to help if we can.
