Hi,
I’m new here. Today I’m feeling a bit anxious. I’ve been fine up to now but suddenly it’s hit me. This is where I’m at….(I’ve just written bullet points).
Went to my Dr’s for smear test & coil removal 23/10/24. He noticed bulging cervix that bled. Dr referred me to hospital for further evaluation.
4/11 went in for Colposcopy. Decided I needed to have LLETZ under general anaesthetic. First EUA etc was cancelled having waited around all day seeing consultant, medics, anaesthetist etc. Sent home due to lack of beds. Had MRIscan 13/11.
EUA, LLETZ and biopsies took place a week later, 18/11. CT 20/11. Follow up, face to face with consultant booked 26/11.PET scan booked for 29th.

Hi MermaidSea and welcome to our group.
It sounds like you’ve been caught up in quite a whirlwind recently with a lot going on, but the sooner you know what is happening the easier things become to deal with. It’s difficult to be waiting for results, but once you have your meeting tomorrow you will find out more, although the petscan will be needed to complete the jigsaw to see what needs to happen next.
It’s not surprising you are anxious-that’s very natural-but once you’ve had you meeting please come back and let us know what’s happening. We have ladies in the group at different stages of cervical cancer who have had different treatments, so there will be plenty support for you here when you know what’s next.
It will be helpful for us, to be able to support you, if you let us know the stage of cancer if you get a diagnosis of cancer, and the proposed treatment.
Try and think of any questions you would like to ask your consultant tomorrow-write them down tonight if you have a chance and it’s easier to remember them when you’re there. It can be hard at appointments to take everything in, so it helps to have someone with you. If you don’t understand something, ask them to go over it again so it’s clear for you. I did that when things were being spoken about too quickly.
Good luck, and hope we can chat again when you know more.

Thanks Sarah,
So still a bit in the air as the consultant hasn’t seen my CT scan yet & my PET is this Friday. However, feeling positive that it’s been called Low Grade & Well Differentiated. 2.2 X 2.7cm (some slready taken out via LLETZ so smaller now).
Current staging 1B2 / 2A so the possibility of a radical hysterectomy. The consultant, who was my surgeon last week, says he could not see any vaginal involvement although the MRI may question this. The MRI did not show any bowel involvement.
no lymphovascular involvement, no parametrial spread.
MDT meeting tomorrow and the consultant will call me after.
I’m 56 years old and also found out today I have qualified to represent GBR in Sprint Triathlon at the World Triathlon Age Group Championships next October 2025. Now that’s a focus for next year!

Hi MermaidSea Ali
There are a lot of positives in what you’ve been told so far, which is a good thing if there can be such a thing with cancer!
If your stage remains at a maximum of 2a after your petscan, then surgery is an option, and everything so far seems to indicate that will be the case.
What incredible news you’ve had in being selected to be part of the Triathlon team! That’s amazing and something to focus on-well done!
