I was diagnosed stage 3 early grade 2 back in November having gone to my gp in October. I am due to start treatment on 15th January which will include radiotherapy, chemotherapy and brachytherapy. Not sure what to expect, feelings change from 1 day to the next.

  • Hi  and welcome to our group.

I’m sorry to read your diagnosis but hope you’ll find the group helpful and supportive.

We’ve had a number of ladies quite recently diagnosed who are about to start their treatment so I hope they’ll pop along and say hello. Some are also stage 3..and we’ve had stage 3 ladies who’ve successfully gone through their treatment and come out the other side.

The treatment is similar for stage 2b which I had, so I’ve been through chemo and radiotherapy. Unfortunately I wasn't able to have brachytherapy, but other ladies have experience of that.

When we are facing the unknown, it’s scary…we don’t know what to expect. Once treatment got started I found it easier mentally because I had focus. The best advice I can give is to take one day at a time, especially when treatment starts. You can experience side effects from treatment, so if you feel anything like nausea, or bowel and bladder issues, speak up straight away and you will be given something to help.

Please feel free to use the group to ask any questions, or share your fears and worries-there are many of us who have gone down this path before and can help support you. I don’t want to bombard you with too much information about the treatments at this point, but happy to try and help with anything based on my experiences.

    Sarah xx
