Hi,

Im new to the group and just wondered if anyone can help me understand what’s going on:

I’ve been getting symptoms for a while and I’ve been to the doctors, the appointment was delayed as the bleeding has been continuous, so she asked me to go in anyway. I couldn’t get a smear due to the bleeding but the doctor examined me and said the neck of the womb didnt look normal and I have now got to go for blood tests, a scan and a biopsy. Should I be worried?

If this was visible visible just by looking does that mean it’s going to be bad?

  • Hi  and welcome to the group.

We are all just patients in the group and not medical professionals, so unfortunately it’s not possible for any of us to try to make assumptions or try to interpret what your doctor has seen.

Going for the tests suggested by your doctor is the only way to find out what may be going on, so I hope you don’t have to wait too long. Your doctor will want to do these general tests at the moment as they will not be able to diagnose you without them.

Please come back and let us know how you get on, as if you do need the support of the group it’s a safe place to ask questions and get some advice from those of us who have some experience of going through this. Good luck, and I hope it doesn’t turn out to be as serious as a cancer diagnosis.

  • Thanks Sarah. I hope you’re well x

  • My gynaecologist could actually feel and see that my cervix was abnormal. Unfortunately I did have cancer but was early stages 1b. Initially fear and imagination and hearsay are the worst things but it gets easier once you know what you are dealing with. Lots of us here for support even if you think your concerns are silly. We have all been there and hopefully you will get better news than you expect xx
