  • Thank you. Well I'm going for a colonoscopy next Thursday as I they have found abnormal cells. Pooing myself. So hoping that women on here have gone through the same thing and if it come back all clear or with cancer and what stages. I have a few of the symptoms that are on the NHS website. There no one really i can talk to about it as everyone I seem to change the conversation or brush it under the carpet so I really hope it's OK to be on here.

     Thank you

  • Hi Danielle

Of course it’s ok to be here. But I presume it’s a colposcopy you’re going for rather than a colonoscopy which is a bowel examination?

I’m assuming you have maybe had an abnormal smear which has identified that you have the hpv virus and abnormal cells? The colposcopy will allow a closer look at your cervix and will identify any areas of abnormal cells. These are not cancer, and can be removed in a straightforward treatment. It would be unusual for a cancer diagnosis to come from this, as that requires a biopsy, and cancer stages are only determined by further investigations, such as scans after a biopsy.

For someone in your position it is way too early to be thinking of cancer, so try not to let your  thoughts run away with themselves. Pre cancerous cells can be successfully removed and often no further treatment would be required.
