Good evening, hope everyone is doing well! Im

completely new here and I haven’t officially received a diagnosis yet but I’m looking for a bit of support/advice!
I had merina coil removed in July and I bleed heavily for 4 weeks! I was out on to destrogen pill but it wasn’t agreeing with me so after 3 months I stopped taking it and again I bled heavily for 4 weeks, however this time I’ve developed a slight smelly brown discharge! I was at doctors yesterday and she gave me a smear and noticed the cervix looked abnormal, her response panicked me! She seems really worried, anyway she’s sending off for an urgent gynae appointment! I do have occasion pelvic pain and intercourse does hurt sometimes but not all the time!
I’ve had very frequent smears, and the latest one was only in July of this year!
I’m absolutely terrified after the doctors reaction, I phoned her today and she was slightly more reassuring but she really wants me to see gynae ASAP! She said she’s noticed a difference in my cervix sonde July!
anyone any similar experiences? I could do with some support! Thank you I’m advance!

  • Hi and welcome to the Online Community. I told my GP about some pink mucous like spotting on my undies a couple of days apart. I was a good 10 years post menopause. I wasn't going to bother her but my bestie nagged me to get it checked out and I'm so glad she did. I didn't even see the GP, it was a phone consult and she put me on the 2 week wait cancer screening pathway. The was all in the middle of lockdown last year. I had various tests and scans and was diagnosed with Endometrial cancer. Heck of a shock, no-one in my biological family had ever had cancer!

I'm sure the other members here will be along soon to chat and offer support. It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep writing the same thing over and over. You can amend or update it at any time.

To find more information covering diagnosis and treatments there are pages covering most types of cancers which can be found on our Online Information and Support Section

Macmillan Support Services also offer lots of information, support, financial guidance or just someone to listen. It’s free to call 0808 808 0000. Most services are available 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two to three working days for replies from our expert team.

Sending you welcoming hugs B xx
