Hi all,
Well its been the most emotional few week's. From receiving my abnormal cervical test on the Saturday, to being called in for an colostomy on the Thursday. That was a week ago and I've still got another 4-6 weeks to wait.
Today I'm having a extremely low day. I'm crying constantly and trying to hide it from my family. I don't want them to worry until I know exactly what I'm going to be dealing with
Have you experienced any stigma around this type of cancer?
Thank you for listening to my ramblings
Hi and welcome to the Online Community. Don't worry, you're not rambling - I'm sorry to read you're having such a hard time but you're not alone in this, we've all been there, not knowing what we're dealing with feeling totally lost and numb. I've a different cancer but this time last year I was where you are now so big hugs your way. You've joined a group who'll all be able to support you through this emotional roller-coaster ride.
There's no stigma attached to any cancer - it's an awful disease and we can beat it so be positive and take a deep breath. We all agree the endless waiting to have tests done, results given and more tests is exhausting and is by far the worst part of the journey. Once you know what you're dealing with and have a treatment plan in place everything becomes much clearer and "Do-able"
It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep writing the same thing over and over. You can amend or update it at any time.
To find more information covering diagnosis and treatments there are pages covering most types of cancers which can be found on our Online Information and Support Section.

Hi,
I've just had my first clear scan after Cervical cancer treatment. I haven't experienced any stigma. My Macmillan nurse/key worker was absolutely amazing for support. I found the Macmillan and JOs cervical trust websites extremely helpful for reassurance about what to expect and treatment options. Most causes of cell changes are from the HPV virus that 8 out of 10 people will get at some point, 9 in 10 will clear the virus on their own without it causing any problems.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
