Hi all,
I’m just writing this down to get it out of my head and to hopefully gain some reassurance from others.
I finished my treatment end of April (chemo, radio, brachy), and have since had quite a good recovery. I went back to work the same week, opened a new business, and started working with a PT to get my strength up again. I also had a clear follow up scan and two in person meetings with my oncologist who seemed happy with recovery progress.
However, in the past few weeks, I can only describe things as a bit “odd”.
I’ve been getting new symptoms such as itchy skin, cold shivers, and generally feeling just unwell. I wondered if it would be a result in hormone imbalance due to medically induced menopause. I started HRT last week and have felt worse ever since. Is this my body being in constant flight mode?
I’ve been feeling very positive up until recently, and I’m starting to get in my head a bit about how it might be something more concerning. If anyone has felt similar in this timeframe, I’d like to hear your thoughts.
I should be due my next examination in January.
Thinking of everyone, hope all is well considering x
I would suggest seeing your GP as it might need an adjustment to the HRT.
regards Ann
Hiya Sarajazzle I agree with Galanthophile it sounds like it may be either a reaction or just your body adjusting or the hrt may need adjusting. I started HRT about 2 weeks after brachytherapy because I was an emotional wreck and my bones and joints were aching so much I couldn’t sleep. I was put on a combi patch and then a month later an extra estrogen patch as I was still having symptoms. I remember when I started I actually felt loads better the site where my patches were; were itchy only. I might have just been lucky that they were good for me, but the HRT you are on might not be right for you.
(I’ve since been put on vaginal estrogen aswell due to bleeding a lot after dilation/intercourse so praying that works)
But your best option is to get in touch with your GP see what they suggest, and then if it’s not sorted speak with your CNS. I imagine your GP will ask for a blood test to see what your vitamin levels and bloods are like. xx
