Well, today is worthy of a little celebration I think! It marks the 4 year anniversary of my original diagnosis, and every day out from that is a an absolute blessing, considering how ill I was, and how advanced my cancer had become in a short space of time.
I don’t use the word cured, and never will, and my consultants don’t use the word remission either, but that’s ok. I will never say I’ve beaten this disease. I’m happy to be feeling well and getting a no evidence of disease result twice in this process as it’s as much as is realistically possible to hope for in my opinion with this disease. I guess the clock starts ticking again since I had surgery for my recurrence and if I’m lucky enough to get 5 years out from that it would take me to 2025, but I won’t count my chickens!
I don’t use words like “journey” in all of this-each to their own- but it’s been a hard process to get here and I am forever changed both physically and mentally. It’s been extremely tough.
But it’s a nice day today, and I may raise a glass later in thanks to the brilliant surgeons who saved my life and gave me a second chance. I am so very grateful for their skills.

Thank you Sarah, what a lovely response. I would be very happy to support any ladies with a cervical cancer diagnosis. Having autoimmune disease does add an extra layer of difficulty to treatment but still doable.
In all honesty though you have faced so much more and are incredibly brave.

I think we’re all brave, Rabbit. This is tough, but we face up and push on. It sounds like you have a really good attitude, and I’m sure you’re going to be a great help in the group. It’s good to have you with us, and would be interesting to know if there are any other ladies facing autoimmune issues who you can chat with. Might be an idea to put up a new post to introduce yourself and ask that question…sometimes things can get lost in longer threads.

Hi Sarah, yes it would be interesting to chat to other ladies who may have autoimmune issues and I will consider making a new post, especially after treatment and the conflicting advice from specialists. Oncology have encouraged me to seek help with autoimmune problems but Rheumatology and others are very cautious now in not suppressing my immune system too much. . Once I have been cancer free for a couple of years I will have more options
Here's to our continuing good health (well relatively speaking good health!) x
Hi Sarah,
Have a lovely holiday and thanks so much for being there for everyone always. You always manage to say the right thing and are so aware of how people might be feeling.
Congratulations for your four year anniversary too!
Come back soon Sarah,
Lulabell
Thank you Lulabell! I’m back now but freezing cold!
