Morning ladies!

My journey so far - I have been having numerous gyne issues the last 18 months, including pelvic pain and lots of bleeding (only had 5 days this month without any!)

After lots of battling with the GP who wanted to put everything down to perimenopause, I was finally taken seriously by another one.

I have my smear results back today which show him risk HPV and CIN2. I have been referred for a colposcopy which is on 3 Sept.

My bloods show a low Lymphocyte count as well.

I’m not in panic mode or anything like that, I just want answers whatever that looks like.

The point of my post is a huge thank you to all that post in this forum! Knowledge is power and reading all the posts from strong women has really put my mind at ease.

Thanks to you all I feel prepared for the possible processes moving forward and empowered by you all.

  • Hi  and welcome to our group.

I’m glad you’ve found it helpful to read the forum and that you know what is involved in testing going forward. Hopefully the low lymphocyte count is a temporary blip.

The colposcopy will have a closer look at your cervix and you may have tiny biopsies taken if it’s thought necessary. Hopefully the results will confirm your screening results of CIN2 and you won’t need treatment, but you need to speak about the bleeding youv’e been having as CIN shouldn’t cause this, and as a symptom it does need investigation.

Let us know how you get on and please feel free to ask any questions-we’ll try to help if we can.

  • Thanks for you reply Sarah x

I also have some ultrasounds pending for mid sept as well.

The most frustrating bit of all has been the battle with the GPs to take things seriously!

Just want to get to the bottom of it all

  • Sometimes we need to keep pushing because gps can tend to blame everything on the perimenopause/menopause, but when you’ve had a lot of pain and bleeding you should have been referred to have that investigated, rather than only cervical smear results being the trigger for referral.

The main thing is that you’ve been referred now, and have ultrasound scans scheduled so at least you’ve finally had some action taken. But yes, it can be very frustrating dealing with gps, so I’m glad you were able to see a gp who listened!
