Post menopause slight bleed after 5 years stomach cramps. 55 years old.

Can anyone tell me what symptoms they had at the beginning.  I'm terrified I may have cancer. Will call doctors tomorrow. Just frantically searching for answers.

  • Hi

It's natural that you should automatically jump to the worse-case scenario when you have unexplained symptoms. Have you been to see your GP yet and, if so, what is the next step now?

You might find this information from Macmillan on symptoms of cervical cancer helpful to have a read through. However, you've done the most important thing and that's getting an appointment with your GP so that your symptoms can be checked out and, if necessary, a referral made.

Do let us know how you get on at the GPs.

Hi DLM I was stage 3c cervical cancer spread to pelvic lymph nodes. 12 months clear awaiting 12 month scan to confirm all is still well. I would advise any unusual bleeding to go to your Gp. I wasn’t diagnosed for some time and was persistent not missed any smears was finally referred to gynecologist who discovered abnormalities and requested an urgent colposcopy. My symptoms where bleeding in between periods and after intercourses severe stomach cramps and smelly discharge back pain and extreme tiredness I did have weight loss but was dieting at the time put it down to that also experienced shooting pains down from groin into my legs hooe this helps good luck with it all. I would try avoid researching as it always give worse case scenarios and this isn’t good for mental health and causes at time uneccassery  worrying and a lot of information is out of date. I was convinced I was going to die but the SMSing staffs nd oncologists worked their magic. Fingers crossed your symptoms are menapausal but please speak with your gp x
