Hi all
I have to my MRI scan tomorrow and I'm very anxious and scared I don't like closed places
Is the scanner closed in? And roughly how long does it take please?
Hi Jackie,
The scanner was closed in, like a big tube, but they give you a button you can press if it all gets too much, and they can hear you if you need to talk to them.
I'm not sure how long it took, quite a long time but not as long as I'd been expecting. They do tell you when you go in how long it will take.
I just closed my eyes and counted slowly, I think I got to about 600 and something.
I hope this helps
Stiggie
Hi Jackie
Yes the MRI is the tunnel scan. I'm not good with confined spaces either so always asked if I could go in feet first so my head was out! I did this everytime I had a MRI and it was never a problem. Just ask them when you go in if you can do them same if you feel uncomfortable. I think from memory it lasted about half an hour but they might give you ear phones so you can listen to music to take your mind off it. Don't be afraid to ask for things that will make it less daunting for you. I learnt that along the way. They are so lovely at the hospital and will make sure you're comfortable before they start anything. Good luck and let us know how you get on xx
Thank you for the msg and I will let everyone know X
