Morning,
Where do I even start…
I just got the news yesterday that I have been diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Feeling a million mixed emotions at the moment and trying to digest all the information been given and understand all the upcoming tests/appointments I’m waiting on as well as trying not to end up in ‘google rabitholes’
I have a fantastic supportive husband and family (however we moved away from our family a year ago so feeling further away than ever from them right now when I just need some hugs)
In honesty, I don’t even no what I wanted from writing in this forum, just writing it down. To make it real and not just a nightmare? Who knows. Hoping this forum will help/support over the coming weeks/months.
Hi Becky89 and welcome to our group.
It’s so horrible and scary to get a cancer diagnosis, but you’re in the right place to get support from those of us who’ve been through it.
I would not recommend google personally if you don’t have much information to go on as it can make you more anxious. It will be important to have more tests and scans to find out the stage of the cancer and exactly where it is so that your team can decide on the best treatment plan.
Sometimes surgery is the first step for an early stage cancer, but if that’s not possible then there will be other treatments required. I couldn’t have a hysterectomy as my cancer was stage 2b, so I needed chemo and radiotherapy. In the group, we’ve got lots of experience of the different treatment plans others have gone through and we’ll be able to help you more when you have more information.
Please keep in touch and feel free to ask any questions that pop into your head. We’ll do our best to help support you through this.

Hi Sarah!
Thanks so much for your reply. Based on what I was told from the biopsy results I’ve had it’s stage 1a2. I’m back at the hospital next week I believe for an examination (it was all a bit of a blur exactly what but I think LLETZ procedure maybe) and awaiting a MRI and PET appointments currently. Then I guess waiting game of these to then wait for results to know more.
very scary indeed, which is why I turned to this as a support group for sure!
so very much appreciate the quick reply! And will be looking through the forum for advise and support for sure! Xx
Hi Becky
The positive news is that the stage is thought to be 1a2, which is a very early cancer. Tiny cancers may not show up on scans as they are microscopic but can be successfully removed by the LLETZ procedure at the clinic.
Very early cancers are much less likely to spread beyond where they are as they don’t go deep into tissue so hopefully your stage will stay the same and this can be easily dealt with for you. Fingers crossed!
