Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding supplements they took to aid internal healing after Radiotherapy & Brachytherapy. I don’t know if there is anything that would help the healing process and maybe reduce scar tissue forming, I’ve seen some people mention Collagen, echinacea & zinc. Also if anyone has any creams/gels that helped look after their skin during radiotherapy too. Thanks x
Hi there -
I have been taking Glowwa - they are a multi supplement brand focused around woman’s health (see the Meno range).
Originally targeting hair loss and shedding (fantastic for after chemo), but also made to stabilise hormones and reduce inflammation. It helps with all side affects of menopause, which if not already, your treatment will have started this. It is suitable for peri, menopause & post meno. I would highly recommend it.
I have also been taking their collagen alongside the supplements which has been a great boost - if you are taking collagen, please make sure it is type 3 (usually bovine), as this focuses on the inside, including muscle, bone, ligament & injury recovery.
Take a look on their website or Instagram pages for more info or feel free to ask me - I’ve trained with the. In level 1 & 2 nutrition, and I work closely with the brand now after my cancer journey to help trial and develop products.
hope this helps!

The reduction of scaring etc can only be done by using frequently dilator with vaginal moisturiser. After the brachytherapy your consultant should advise you on the use and the frequency. I used different types but at the end the plastic ones provided by the hospital worked for me the best. Also there are different brands available to try. I would recommend YES as it works well for me. It is a long process and it requires a lot of commitment for life as things are not the same down there post treatment.
Hi
I finished my radiotherapy and brachytherapy in March this year . I was told to use the dilators as said by Martha they are the only way to stop scar tissue developing and that can cause a lot of problems . I have just this week had another checkup and it was found that I have some scar tissue developing. I haven’t been using the dialoters enough ( I stupidly thought after my previous checkup with no scar tissue that it would be ok ) . This is the only way to stop scar tissue but make sure you use plenty of lubricant. There is not much else you can do to help internally . It’s not very pleasant to do and apparently it’s best to keep using them for a year . If you have external problems from radiotherapy there are creams to use on skin that the radiotherapist can advise . I hope your doing well
