Bleeding

I completed treatment in May and started using dilator as directed in June. I had a clear scan only last week. I have had a discharge throughout but today there is frank blood even more than I the bleed that alerted me. Does anyone know if this is normal? Thanks

  • Hi

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had some bleeding suddenly-it’s always scary to see that, but I’d take it as a positive that you’ve just had a clear scan.

Yes, you can have bleeding using the dilators, so was it related to that? The radiation can thin the skin and it can be fragile in there so it could be that, but I’d be inclined to give your CNS a call on Monday just to get some reassurance, Have you had an internal exam recently? If not, they may suggest you come in to get a check, especially if there is a lot of blood and it’s continuing.

I hope this is just a blip and there’s nothing of concern, and that you’ll let us know how you get on.

  • Thanks SarahH21, it has lessened a bit today but I think I will call for reassurance.

  • Good-it’s horrible to be worrying about something and it would help you get some reassurance. You haven’t mentioned having any pain, so is it just the bleeding you’re experiencing?

  • Yes there's no pain really. I have felt tired all week and not eaten properly,  that was a bit of concern. However I have woken with a stinking  cold today it might all be connected. Need to get back to my treatment mantra " this too shall pass". Think I'm just a bit worn out.

    Thanks again Eileen x

  • Sounds like you’re a bit under the weather Eileen, but I like your mantra! Treatment can take a lot out of you and you need some time to for your immune system etc to properly recover.

Take care, and I hope you’re feeling better soon.
