Hello everyone, I finally got my appointment with the oncologist last Friday. I have stage 1b3 and a radical hysterectomy is not possible. The cancer has wrapped around my cervix and the surgeons are not confident of the margins.
I will be having 5 weeks of radiotherapy with a chemo session each week and then 4 weeks of brachytherapy.
I have been reading through previous posts, and from them, pretty much know what to expect which has put my mind at rest. I’m nervous about the side effects but will deal with them as and when.
I just want to say thank you to all the ladies on here who have gone through this and have posted valuable advice. It has been a god send for my mental health.
Love and best wishes to you all xx
Hi Funsize
Thanks for the update-it’s good you’ve got your plan now.
I’m sorry you weren’t able to have the surgery, but if your consultant cannot be sure of clear margins, then it’s sensible to do the chemoradiation approach.
Many of us have been through this treatment for different stages, both before and after surgery, or without surgery at all, so please ask any questions as you go along.
Try not to anticipate side effects, as you may not have them-we all react differently, and I wish you well with your treatment.
Sarah xx
