I was diagnosed with stage 1B3 cervical (endocervical adenocarcinoma) in January 2025, and have just undergone my treatment.
I had 5 weeks of chemotherapy (5x Cisplatin ) and radiotherapy (25 sessions), followed by 4 sessions of brachytherapy.
I’ve noticed some unusual symptoms since my treatment and was just wondering if these are normal at this stage. I’m experiencing some dull ache in my pelvis, legs and knees which seems to worsen if I’ve been sitting still for a while. I also have quite frequent watery discharge, which I didn’t notice before. It is more obvious after using dilators or after intimacy.
There’s another two weeks before I have my follow up appointment with my oncologist, and at least a month after that before another scan. I was just hoping someone else could share their thoughts and experiences if you are in a similar position regarding side effects.
thank you,
Sara
Hi Sarajazzle (Sara) and welcome to our group.
I think we’re all ultra aware of things after we’ve been through treatment, and can get concerned about anything that feels different. You could give your CNS a ring to have a chat and see if you can get some reassurance there in advance of your appointment in two weeks.
I didn’t have the symptoms myself that you describe-I had 32 radiotherapy and 4 Cisplatin-but we’ve had a number of other ladies in the group who’ve been at the same stage as you and had the same treatment so I hope they’ll see your post and come along and reply.
It can take time for things to settle down after treatment, and feel back to normal, so I hope everything turns out well at your appointment and scan. Let us know how things go.

Hi Sarah,
Thank you for your kind reply!
yes you’re right, I suppose the “is this normal” feeling will never really go away now for any of us.
I will be seeing my oncologist for a follow up in two weeks time, so I’ve a list of things to ask about. I’m presuming these symptoms could also be menopause related, as my treatment has brought this on early (I’m 35), so all this will be new to me also.
Hi sarajazzle
hi I was stage 2 so had chemo for 6 weeks then chemradiation then brachytherapy . I am a lot older then you , but I’ve had the whole thing legs feel like lead knees hurt hips etc feeling tired still etc . I just thought it was because I’m older although I was very active pre cancer . Reading your messages I hope that maybe is it down to treatment and these symptoms go away hopefully so Thankyou for putting this out there . I finished treatment mid March so have no appointments for few weeks still . The other problem I have noticed is that I still get a lot of wind can be a bit embarrassing sometime ! and griping pains in my stomach . I hope you feel better soon . X
Hello! Thank you for responding.
Thats reassuring to hear that you are also experiencing similar, although sorry to hear that also as it’s not fine for you!
I was also very active pre-treatment so I’m trying my best to get back into it again. Hopefully this helps with the symptoms
We are at similar stages of recovery as I finished my course of brachytherapy at the beginning of April. I hope everything has went as planned for you and your follow ups are positive news ️
If you can edit your original post, to change to Cisplatin there, you could then delete the post explaining the cosplaying autocorrect by using “more” button below the post and pressing”delete”

Hi Sara
I think you always have some level of worry after a cancer diagnosis and treatment about what might be “normal” or expected, but things do normally settle in time. It’s a lot of treatment to go through in a relatively short period of time, so our bodies take a bit of a hammering, so hopefully things will get better as you recover.
