Hi everyone. My grandson and his girlfriend are having a baby in August, and we are living in the same house. When I start radiotherapy next week is it safe for her to be around me?
Hi Chorister
When radiation is given externally, it doesn’t stay in your body and doesn’t make you radioactive in any way. Normally it’s perfectly safe to be around others after you’ve had a treatment, but it would be best to check with your team before you start next week specifically about being around someone on a daily basis who is pregnant. If you give your CNS a call, I’m sure they’ll be able to advise, but congratulations-something to look forward to!

I became a grandma myself last August and was incredibly excited-such a blessing having a new baby in the family!
