Hi I had a pelvic exentaration May 2024 after discovering my cancer had rest after 20 years. Still recovering from this massive operation.
Hi Star10473
It is massive surgery with a very long recovery time. Mine was more than 4.5 years ago now. I’ve replied to your other post to ask if you need any help with anything?
Sarah xx
I completely understand how difficult it is-I’m disabled, so getting around is difficult for me. I’m retired, but I would have thought you still need more time before thinking about going back to work.
Are you managing your stomas ok, or is there anything you need help with on that?
Sarah
What’s your difficulties with the stomas-is there anything in particular that’s making it more difficult to manage for you? I don’t need to get up at night ever to deal with mine, but maybe there’s some changes you could make to make things easier for you?
Have you spoken to anyone like your stoma nurse about how you’re feeling?
Sarah xx
Yes, I connect my urostomy bag to a night bag, but it holds 2litres so it does mean I can sleep through without having to get up which is good! I hope your nurse can help with anything you’re really struggling with.
