Hey just a wondering if anyone has any advice please, I’m still only one year into surgical menopause and currently taking HRT Gel. 4 pumps at night time and some days are worse then ever, i get very emotional really teary, and just can’t sleep and having hot flushes during the day and brain fog is just something else! I got told today as I had a little procedure done that I could take testosterone and vagina cream too as this helps with the menopause. Is anyone using all of this together and have you had any side effects xx I’ve emailed my dr saying I’m not being throbbed off any more and I want to see a menopause specialist, as I keep getting told to go o to antidepressants which I don’t want to take as I’m not depressed and I just want to learn how to deal with the menopause xx if the doctor won’t help I’ll speak to my surgeon x
Hi Em41
I hope you’ll get some replies from some of the other ladies who’ve been through a surgical menopause-I had already gone through a natural menopause with no issues before my diagnosis so don’t have the right experience to offer any advice for you.
Sarah xx
Hi Em41,
I hope your procedure went ok. Yes, I use patches and an estrogen vaginal pessary. I do find the pessary helps with dryness/soreness and it has helped with my bladder (it seems to wake it up a bit). I told my physio that the pessary was a bit fiddly and she told me about an estrogen cream that may help so I need to get this. I have never had testosterone mentioned by my docs. What does it help with?
I hope you can see a menopause specialist soon and they help you find what works best for youx
Hi my love,
healing ok still in pain but just waiting for results now. Yes she said about the cream, so my dr has given me that to use but just need to speak to my surgeon first. The testosterone apparently helps with sleep, mood changes and libido. But she also said there are slot of side affects so I need to look into that. How do you get on with the patches? Do they come off easy? My dr is sending me for bloods to check all my levels so that will be interesting and to see where they are sitting. Again they offered me antidepressants!!! Apparently these tablets help with sleep! Still not sure though! Hope you are well xxx
Hi Em41,
That sounds good finding out all your levels. I do wonder what mine would be like. I feel like I just take HRT but have no idea about my hormone levels.
I have got used to the patches now and they stay on well. There has been a few times where they have started coming off though. I like the fact I can pop one on and then forget about it for a few daysx
Yeah it will be interesting to see what’s going on, feeling more positive about things and since having that procedure done everything has settled down abit. Heard some horror stories about testosterone so I don’t think I’ll take it!! Yeah the patch sounds good I’ll see what my levels say. The gel is good but such a pain to apply everyday some days takes up to 10/15 mins to dry xx
Hi, Em41
If you have something like this near you
https://www.shl.uk/clinic/burrell-street-clinic
ask to be referred because you can talk specifics and that is all key.
Dr Frodsham there has an interest in people in our situation and might be able to refer you to someone closer if you are not in London - perhaps you can contact her through the clinic? Not sure. Your CNS will know.
