Bleeding 3 years on

Hi all,

I’m almost 3 years clear of 3C2 cervical cancer and apart from some minor side effects i’ve been well since my treatment. However, twice in the past week i’ve had vaginal bleeding after sex which i’ve never had before. This was actually the first symptom I ever had before I was first diagnosed so I’m panicking. I’ve put in a call to the hospital and I’m waiting for a nurse to call me back. But I was just hoping to find someone who had experienced this and it be nothing to worry about. Thank you!

  • Hi

I’m sorry to read you are having worrying bleeding. I haven’t experienced exactly the same, though I did have some unexpected bleeding at one point just after I had been for a routine check up, and you’ve done the best thing in putting in a call. I’m not sure if you will get the reassurance here that you’re looking for, but I hope you do.

I would expect that you would get called in for a check/internal examination and if necessary a scan if it’s felt that’s required. It would depend what it’s seen when you are examined.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Sarah xx

  • Hi I'm currently in the same situation as your post & was wondering if you got any answers?

  • Hi  and welcome to our group.

You have replied directly to me, but I’m not sure if you meant to reply to  ?

Unfortunately you may not receive a reply from her, as this post was made over a year ago, and the poster didn’t post again in the group. I can see she made posts in the bowel cancer group, but that was several years ago. I have tagged her so if she gets a notification of this she may come back and reply to you. Others may reply to the new post you have also made in the group if they’ve had a similar situation.

  • Hi Gloria, Hi Sarah,

I’m sorry that I missed your reply to my original message (Sarah) and didn’t come back to update on my situation. I’m happy and relieved to report that after an internal examination and MRI scan I am still showing no evidence of disease - now 4 years clear. My oncologist said due to my treatment and menopause that the vaginal skin is thinner than it once was and can be very fragile.

I had a few episodes of bleeding before it resolved and luckily I haven’t had any since. It’s definitely scary seeing blood and I’d encourage you to get checked out asap. I hope it is nothing sinister for you too.

  • Hi

Thank you for your quick response! It’s good to read such a positive update on your own situation and see that you are doing well.
